Purpose of the Program
The maintenance management system provides for direct management participation as well as provision of planned preventive maintenance and adequate response to unscheduled events that occur. The module is designed for the proper management of maintenance system and procedures. This course has been designed to enable participants to develop an understanding of the theory, principles and practice of maintenance management .

Target Groups
This program is designed for Maintenance Supervisors, Maintenance workers in operations, warehouse and housekeeping, Building Managers, Facilities Coordinators, Project Managers, Technical Managers, and New Entrants in the MM field to grow and attain their potentials. It is appropriate for individuals who need to refresh their knowledge of the maintenance management and also applicable for staff working in a Maintenance Management environment.
Certificate: This short course is not credit-bearing, and does not lead to a formal qualification. A well recognized Certificate of Completion from IERA secretariat will be awarded at the end of the program.

Introduction

Many leading economies now recognize the value of industrialization policy and often strengthen it. Landry (2018) notes that a strong industrialization/manufacturing improves a country’s external account balances (i.e., reduces import and diversify experts), therefore increasing resilience to external shocks. It is also a fact that industrial policies are meant to enhance industrialization in an economy. Therefore, in order to upgrade any economy, industrial policies must be developed and carefully implemented. This course has been designed to enable participants to develop an understanding of the theory, principles and practice of industrial policy makers.

At the end of this module, students should be able to:

  • Explain what industrial policy is and how it can be best designed and implemented;
  • Describe the policy instruments that can be used to implement industrial policies;
  • Describe the different views on the role of industrial policies;
  • Analyse country experiences with specific industrial policy instruments; and
  • Understand the challenges to industrial policies in the context of a developing economy.

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is an important tool to inform decision-makers, regulators and stakeholders, about the possible environmental, social and economic costs of the proposed project, widely used to assess by organisations of all shapes and sizes. The implementation of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of projects has now become a legal requirement in every country in Africa including Botswana.

To be effective, it requires the active involvement of all concerned stakeholders. This program has been designed to create awareness and build capacity among the stakeholders to understand the importance of EIA in all development projects and as a tool to achieve sustainability.

Upon completion of this program, the participants will be able to:

  • Acquire basic EIA knowledge,
  • Conduct scoping studies and EIA studies;
  • Prepare and evaluate EIA terms of reference (TOR),
  • Know basic EIA procedures for identification of environmental impacts and how to minimize them,
  • Identify sources of impacts and the roles of stakeholders in addressing them,
  • Highlight the roles of public participation in EIA process,

During the 4th Industrial Revolution, computers are an integral and necessary part of our lives.  Even if you consider yourself to be a complete novice, with no understanding whatsoever of how computers work, this course has been designed as an introductory to participants will cover topics such as MS word, PPT, Excel, spreadsheet.
